The first full-color English/Chinese language LickZine, reprinting 3 articles taken from the likink.com blog (which are no longer posted online), including (#1) an introduction which cites art critic Lucy Lippard, as well as artist books/zines being an integral component within the genre know as “conceptual art”, (#2) an article by Andrew S. Guthrie titled, “What is an Edition?” in which artist editions are contrasted with commercial packaging and product give-aways (or any other “collectable”) and (#3) the full text of Michael McInnnis’ “Zines: a personal history”, is which McInnis recounts his publishing of “punk zines” while still a member of the U.S. Navy and his tenure (from 1986 to 1990) as owner/operator of the Primal Plunge bookstore in Boston, Massachusetts, a ground-breaking outlet for zines and alternative publishers books and magazines. This article also includes images and text from some of the zines that were on sale at Primal Plunge.
